I've been a Dutch teacher for the past 4 years, but I used to hate language learning...
That’s weird, right?! Let me explain it to you!
You’ll never believe why I became a Dutch teacher ...
That’s weird, right?! Let me explain it to you!
Are you familiar with those tedious exercises like fill-in-the-blank activities, grammar drills, and those never-ending vocabulary lists full of Dutch words? Or even worse… the dialogues you have to memorize and present in front of the entire class?!
Just like Busra, I was done with these, because they’re so ineffective!
I had made a couple of international friends and I was determined to master Spanish and German too. So my language journey started all over again!
I started trying to learn both languages with Duolingo (Like everyone, right?!), but I soon realized I was wasting my time on this app. Duolingo wasn’t created to teach you languages, and just like many people I started ignoring that owl after a couple of weeks, not seeing the progress I wanted to see.
... and figured out that even as a language teacher you need help to master new languages. Why?! Because you don’t know the quirks of a certain language, and you need a structure.
I was also always too busy to study, so I kept postponing my language learning. For my Spanish I decided to take the leap and spend 9 weeks in Costa Rica. By applying my new learned methods, spending time researching polyglot techniques, and the best ways to master a language (read NOT those old language learning methods) I finally saw progress in my Spanish skills.
These days my friends call me crazy because I speak 5 languages (Dutch, English, French, Spanish, and German),
Because after coming home again from my travels I decided to start working as a Dutch teacher. I knew many students were struggling to master my mother tongue (Dutch), and the ways government schools are teaching the language… let me tell you… it’s not good.
This is a message that I got from one of my students…
Sepideh is now thriving in our B1/2 conversation classes! And Sepideh isn't alone:
She had been studying Dutch with Duolingo for a while but didn't feel like she was improving.
After only 5 weeks into the Dutch Mastery Academy, she created this video, and look she's so confident to speak Dutch!
Her Belgian boyfriend is impressed with how fast she's improving!
She's following our A0-A2 Group classes

My name is Eske and I am 28 years old. Living as a digital nomad the last 5 years have made me familiar with online teaching. I am a textile nerd, nature seeker and in love with Italy. My free time is spent gardening, cooking, knitting, weaving, crafting, building or any other DIY projects.
I am a very patient and passionate teacher and I would love to get to know you as a person. I don't like to follow the regular style of teaching a language and that is a reason why I am working with the Dutch Mastery Academy. I will help you reach your goals and enjoy your journey of the Dutch language.
Hello all! My name is Flor Michelle, 29 years old and I am from Eindhoven. Born in the Netherlands, but raised with both Italian and Colombian influences 😊
My passion for teaching started in Utrecht, where I did my teacher training. After my studies I went on an adventure and now I have been living in sunny and lively Lisbon for 1.5 years. Here I not only enjoy the beautiful views and the culture, but I am also hard at work learning Portuguese.
Besides my love for education and languages, I also love to travel. Discovering new places and meeting people inspires me greatly. I always try to bring some of my experiences to the classroom and make my lessons dynamic and engaging.
Tot dan!
